Matthew Karp is the Chief Executive Officer of Amstar and is responsible for U.S. acquisitions, new business initiatives, and strategy as well as overseeing asset and portfolio management of Amstar’s U.S. investments. Mr. Karp joined Amstar in 2017 and has over 25 years of real estate investment experience.
Before joining Amstar, Mr. Karp was a Partner and Head of Real Estate for TriSpan LLP, an alternative investment management group, where he directed all elements of investment strategy and capital deployment within real estate. Earlier in his career, Mr. Karp held various senior investment and management positions at Cerberus Capital Management, Savanna Partners, and CPG Real Estate where he was responsible for sourcing, underwriting, structuring, negotiating and asset managing opportunistic real estate equity and debt investments across the U.S. and Latin America/Caribbean.
In 2018, Mr. Karp was appointed by the Governor of Puerto Rico and continues to serve on the Board of Trustees of the GDB Debt Recovery Authority which was a newly formed statutory public trust and government instrumentality of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Mr. Karp graduated with a BS from Cornell University and received his MBA from Columbia Business School.
